The Photo:
I have been meaning to try this “splash photography” for some time now and this week decided to give it a go.
As you can see I used one of my tripods to suspend a baggy of water over a baking dish. I did not have a black container so I put a black shirt in the dish. The baggy was perfect as just a little pinhole gave me a constant drip so I could just fire away. The most important part was the flash, you want the flash pointing at the paper backdrop and not the water. I do not have a sync cable yet, however since my external flash swivels I was able to point it at the backdrop just as well. For effect, the different coloured folders allowed me to cast different tints on the water. I shot with tungsten white balance to give the photo a blue tone. The result was a good first attempt I think! Not much post processing done here, just a crop.
My Week:
Back to school this week. I am taking English, French, Canadian Politics, Canadian Geography, and Intro to Cultural Anthropology. I am not sure about the last one yet, but the rest seem great so far. I got quite a busy schedule with 5 courses and working 16 hours a week.
Some friends from school and I went to Celebrities to dance on Tuesday night, Wednesday was a bit rough as I worked in the morning and then had a class. However silk was amazing. I managed to do an entire new move called the crucifix drop. I had been trying to do this move for the last 2 weeks. If you are looking for a fun class that will whip you into shape, Aerial Silk is what you are looking for. In 12 weeks of classes I have quadrupled my upper body and core strength, and visibly lost weight. If you are in the Vancouver area check out http://www.vancouvercircusschool.ca/
Thursday was more school and work, but Friday was great. I had classes, worked and then met a friend for delicious sushi before heading to Republic for some more dancing. I love to dance!
Till next week…
