Great Glen Way: Gairlochy to South Laggan, 12.5 miles.
The tent was still standing and remarkably dry in the morning! We high-tailed it out of the campsite as soon as we woke up and after the 1 mile walk back to the way we settled into a good pace.
Today’s stretch was Gairlocky to South Laggan where we stayed in a Youth Hostel. This was a lovely walk along the banks of Loch Lochy through beautiful forest with stunning views. The weather was crazy going from Sun to Rain to Hail to Sleet to Snow and back again.
There was a pub on a boat when we got to Laggan Locks and we had a much needed rest before heading another mile along the way to the hostel. The Great Glen hostel is owned by a lovely couple and was very welcoming.
5 positives for day 2:
- The tent was dry & standing this morning.
- We hiked 13 miles and didn’t get soaked.
- Had dinner on a boat.
- Made it to South Laggan.
Had tea & cuddles in the hostel.
